The Manchester Township Construction Department provides fire, building, plumbing and electrical subcode services under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code.
Construction permits are required for pools, electrical work, plumbing work, and other items. Contact the Construction Office from 8:30 until 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, to schedule an inspection or for additional information.
ZONING PERMITS: Zoning permits are required for any Change of Use in a Commercial Building and almost all building and renovation work including but not limited to fences, pools, decks, shed installations, additions, patios, and driveways. Please be advised that the zoning permit must be accompanied by a copy of survey showing the proposed size and location of any proposed development of the property. The intent and purpose of zoning is to ensure orderly and compliant development and activities within the Borough of Lakehurst. Zoning permit fee is $25.

INSPECTION CERTIFICATE FOR RESALE OR NEW TENANT FOR RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES
RESIDENTIAL DWELLING REOCCUPANCY INSPECTIONS: Before a 1- or 2-family residential dwelling is sold, leased or a change of occupancy occurs, the dwelling must be inspected. Inspections are carried out by the Lakehurst Borough Code Enforcement Officer. The purpose of the inspection is to ensure that the dwelling is equipped with properly installed and functioning smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, a portable fire extinguisher, to review property maintenance, and to ensure that the structure is consistent with tax assessor and building records. The inspection fee is $100 for two inspections, $25 for a third inspection, if needed.
*Rental dwellings that were constructed prior to 1978, must be certified to be free of lead-based paint pursuant to N.J.S.A. 5:28A
