2. Site of old Lakehurst School.
Four-room schoolhouse operated until 1943. Current site of Fire Headquarters, Lakehurst Fire Department. The Fire Department was founded by local residents after a serious fire that could have destroyed the entire town in 1911. Lakehurst's Fire Department was one of the first on the scene to the Hindenburg disaster, May 1937. Charred Hindenburg artifacts are on display in the museum across the street. Photos, old school bell, and old books are also on display.
